NC Legislator Gets
Green Award From NCSEA
Charlotte Business Journal, By John Downey
“ ... supporting policies to make our state competitive nationally in creating green jobs and attracting new investments”
Raleigh - The N.C. Sustainable Energy Association recognized two relative newcomers to the NC General Assembly with its Legislator of the Year
awards Friday.
On the House side, the association recognized Rep. Angela Bryant, D-Halifax/Nash, who is in her second term. She took over as chairwoman of the House Energy and Energy Efficiency Committee this past session, replacing longtime-environmental champion Rep. Pricey Harrison.
N.C. SEA Executive Director Ivan Urlaub credited her with working to protect state support for sustainable energy efforts despite budget cuts in the recession.
On the Senate side, the association chose a freshman, Sen. Josh Stein, D-Wake. Urlaub credited Stein with leadership on the extension of state renewable energy credits for five more years and increasing funding for state projects with energy service companies that reduce energy waste and conserve water in public buildings.
